Survival Instincts

As a proud provider of health and safety programs from the American Red Cross, Survival Instincts helps organizations implement many international safety, business continuity and standards. Mostly 5-star hotels, large corporate houses and leading manufacturing plants seek our expertise. Write to us and one of our training managers will get in touch with you right away!

To help your organizations prepare for health emergencies we have both first aid and emergency medical response training. For corporate organizations with strategic business continuity planning (BCP) responsibilities and want to mitigate the impact of natural calamities on their critical processes, Survival Instincts can provide military-grade training to your emergency response teams (ERTs), including rescue / relief training and disaster simulations. Many coastal corporate facilities also source our expertise for Tsunami evacuation preparations.

Organizations wishing to ensure safety of their most vital intellectual resource – women at work place – seek our women’s safety and self-defense programs. Each safety session equips your women associates with powerful psychological, legal, technical and physical methods to ensure their safety. For the more adventurous citizens, we provide lifeguard training, adventure team building activities, and wilderness survival camps.

When an assailant presents a grave threat, do you know how to protect yourself?

Lately, series of unfortunate incidents have also brought to attention the high priority and need for safety and protection against gender based crimes. Each of us are aware that working women face maximum exposure to gender based crimes outside our homes, while commuting to work, and at work places.

Dr.Manmohan Singh, Hon'ble. Prime Minister of India himself, very recently observed that ‘while more women are now joining the formal economy as a result, a corollary of these developments has been the heightened risk to their safety and security’. The recent passing of the amended Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Bill also highlights this issue.

While we clamor for increased policing, legislation, etc., when an assailant presents a grave, immediate threat, basic awareness on essential safety and self-defense measures is what we will need to protect ourselves.

Survival Instincts, the first and only authorized provider in India of American Red Cross health and training programs - the world’s most respected and recognized safety training agency are conducting a ‘need of the hour’ program which is the “Smart Self Defense Workshop” for Women. This program focuses on essential safety measures to ‘avoid, deter and diffuse’ dangerous situations.

Should an unavoidable physical confrontation take place, simple self defense techniques can help the victim disengage even a physically larger aggressor (to establish an escape route) as well as dominate a confrontation if needed. The focus is therefore on protecting yourself and not necessarily on winning a fight against a larger aggressor/ or aggressors. Therefore, this workshop is for women who may not have the time, resources nor the physical strength to learn martial arts to defend oneself. It is for the regular women.

Survival Instincts has provided survival training for various units of the Indian Army and Navy, National Cadet Corps, and first aid training for the Indian Red Cross. It has also conducted workshops for leading education institutions such as Ethiraj College, Madras University, Stella Maris College, Women’s Christian College, Centre for Women’s Studies, and for numerous organisations in the hospitality, banking and insurance, IT/BPO, and manufacturing industries.

What can you learn?

The Workshop is an actionable program, that it directly empowers women to protect themselves from gender based crime and assault. It certainly helps to improve general awareness at home, workplace and while commuting

  •  Essentials of women’s safety and self defense measures
  •  How to prevent, deter and diffuse dangerous situations and confrontations
  •  How to identify criminals and sexual predators
  •  Pros and cons of using tasers, stun guns and pepper sprays
  •  Force, targets and weapons of physical self defense
  •  Dominating unavoidable confrontations psychologically, physically, technically, legally
  •  Demonstration of disengagement and counter attacks for common frontal, side and rear assault scenarios

We have had an enormous response to our women safety programs. We are trying our best to accommodate all the requests we receive. We are hoping to take the program to women across various organizations so that a larger number may benefit from it. On that note, we cordially invite your organisation to advocate the concern and make use of the opportunity by inducting this program and enabling your women to protect themselves.
